Divider Bookshelf

tips on building bookshelf?
every measurement is rough and can be adjusted.
building one thats
60-66 inches long
24-30 inches high
12 inches deep
with a shelf in the middle cutting it in half vertically ( to make it into two shelves so to speak) but it stops 12 inches before it hits the sides on either side, so its around 34 inches
the other piece is gonna be
70 inches high
11 inches width
7-8 inches depth
with 5 dividers spaced 14 inches apart
Most books are less than 12″ tall so make some shelves adjustable.
3/4″ thick plywood or most any wood will not span more than 36″ without sagging from the weight of the books. You can prevent most sag by adding a decorative 3/4″ to 1″ by 3/4″ thick piece to the front of each shelf. If you add the 1″ by 3/4″ as edging to the front of the plywood shelf, it will give it a finished look and more visual weight.
With to taller piece, because it will be narrow, be sure to secure it to the wall so that it won’t fall over.
Use 3/4″ wood for the carcase.
